Muhammad Yahaya Tambura, MNCS, CDO (MIT CDOIQ USA), is a highly respected IT expert with a distinguished career in technology leadership. He served as the Pioneer Director General/CEO of the Zamfara State Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA) following his role as the Governor's Senior Special Assistant on ICT, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the state's technology sector regulatory framework. Tambura was honored as the Chief Data Officer Ambassador for Nigeria by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) under the MIT Chief Data Officer and Information Quality (CDOIQ) program, reflecting his global expertise in data management and technology.
He is also the founder of the Zamfara ICT Hub, contributing significantly to the development of digital technology. His consultancy work extends to both government and private organizations, including serving as Principal Consultant for various State Communication & Digital Economy Ministries across Nigeria. Tambura has been actively involved in national development, serving on key committees such as the National Council on Communications and Digital Economy (NCCDE), the National Broadband Implementation Steering Committee (NBISC), and the Zamfara State Development Plan Technical Committee.
Additionally, he represented Zamfara State as the Government-Nigerian Governors’ Forum Interface Member for Nigeria’s Digital Transformation and was appointed as the state’s focal point for the National Broadband Plan 2020–2025.
Tambura’s dedication to advancing the digital sector has earned him numerous prestigious awards, including the “Best ICT Promoter” at the 2022 Pan African Digital Summit on E-Government in Lagos. In 2020, the National Council on Communications and Digital Economy (NCDE) recognized him as the “Best Performing Council Member for Human Capital Development” in Imo State. He was also honored with the 2022 TITANS of Tech Award for Outstanding Digital Economy Promoter.
Tambura is a MSc degree holder in Information Technology. His relentless commitment to promoting digital skills, fostering innovation, and driving technological progress has significantly impacted Zamfara State and the broader Nigerian tech landscape.
